Dear Lebanon YMCA Members,
As we continue to follow the stay at home order from Governor Tom Wolfe, we wanted to reach out to all of you and share why we are not open at this time. We have had many inquiries from members about when we are planning to reopen. We wish we had an exact date to give to you, but with the uncertainty of when the Governor will move us to the “green phase” we are refraining from giving a time line.
We understand many of you have seen our name on the waiver list with the state. The waiver is only for two specific areas including emergency childcare for essential workers and space for Lebanon Emergency Management in the event essential workers would need a place to stay. We have not needed to use those waivers, so the YMCA has remained closed.
In light of the recent decision by the County Commissioners to move our county to the “yellow phase”, despite the Governor announcing we are still in the “red phase”, we wanted to update you on our position. We have state licensing for childcare and we cannot risk losing that licensing. We serve over 300 children a day and that would have a huge impact on our families and the community if we had our licensing removed. The YMCA will remain closed until the Governor moves us to the “yellow phase”. In this phase, we will only be able to open our facilities to operate childcare. Once the Governor moves the county to the “green phase”, then we can reopen the YMCA to our members.
We are anxious to have you back in our building and we are planning for our reopen. The YMCA will look a little different. We will need to continue to follow those social distancing guidelines and we will have other plans in place to keep our members and staff safe and healthy. Continue to visit our Facebook page and our website for the most current updates.
